Overview:

Anubias barteri ‘Petite’ is one of the smallest and most compact Anubias varieties available, valued for its tiny, dark green leaves and extremely slow growth. Its miniature size makes it a favourite for nano aquariums, shrimp tanks, and intricate aquascapes where fine detail is key.

Often confused with ‘Mini-Coin’, ‘Petite’ is even smaller and denser, forming tight clumps that stay low and tidy over time. Like all Anubias plants, it is exceptionally hardy and well suited to low-tech and beginner-friendly setups.

Care and Growth:

This plant thrives in low to medium lighting and does not require CO₂ injection, making it ideal for low-tech aquariums. It should be attached to rocks or driftwood rather than planted in substrate, ensuring the rhizome remains exposed to prevent rot.

Growth is very slow, requiring minimal maintenance. Occasional removal of older leaves is all that’s needed to keep the plant looking neat. Over time, it will gradually spread via its rhizome, forming a dense, low-growing carpet-like effect on hardscape.
