• Tank Setup:
  • Substrate and Decorations: A substrate of sand or small gravel is recommended, along with plenty of rocks and caves to provide hiding spots and territorial boundaries.
  • Lighting: Moderate lighting is ideal to mimic their natural habitat, with shaded areas created by decorations.
  • Filtration: A strong filtration system is essential to maintain water quality, as African cichlids can produce significant waste. Regular water changes (about 20-30% weekly) are also necessary.

Diet:

• Marlieri Cichlids are primarily herbivorous but will also consume protein-based foods. Their diet should include:
  • Pellets: High-quality cichlid pellets should form the staple of their diet, preferably those designed for herbivorous cichlids.
  • Vegetable Matter: Offer blanched vegetables such as zucchini, spinach, or algae wafers to provide essential nutrients.
