What is done with this information?

We use your information for the following:

  • To process your orders: We use relevant personal information described above (including your name, address and payment details) to process and deliver your order, add payments or refunds and to notify you of the status of your order.

  • For Market Research: we may contact you from time to time for feedback on our products, for example, through product review request emails.

How long will you keep my information?

  • Customer and order information will be kept securely on our system until you ask us to remove it. However, please note that if you have ordered from us. Seahorse Aquariums must comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • As long as we reasonably require for our legitimate interests.
  • Mailing List Subscriptions will remain active until you opt out from specific lists.
  • Cookies - please refer to the section below.
  • We may keep a record of any correspondence with you, for example if you have made a complaint about service or product, for as long as is necessary to protect us from legal claim.
  • Where we no longer have a need to keep your information, we will delete it. However, please note where you have unsubscribed from our marketing communication, we will keep a record of your email to ensure we do not send you marketing emails in the future.

How do you get my consent?

  • When you provide us with personal information to create a customer account, join our loyalty scheme, complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it.

If you unsubscribe from marketing, please note we may still contact you with service messages from time to time (e.g. order and delivery confirmations)

You may also see ads for our Site on third party websites, including on social media. These ads may be tailored to you using cookies (which track your web activity, so enable us to serve ads to customers who have visited our Site). Where you see an ad on social media, this may because we have engaged the social network to show ads to our customers, or users who match the demographic profile of our customers. We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if required to fulfil our obligations under our agreement with you. E.g. provide your Name, Address and email address address to the courier to have your purchases delivered , Fastway, GLS & JMC, Seahorse Employees.

Section 5: eCommerce

Our store is hosted on the Nitrosell platform and our till system is hosted by Premier Epos They provide us with online e-commerce platforms that allows you to buy our products and use our services.

Payment through our website can be made via our secure check out pages using secure 3rdparty payment service providers, e.g. credit card processors.

Nitrosell and Premier Epos are compliant and have the requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.

Section 6: Third party services

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us. E.g. Couriers to deliver your purchases. The data we provide to Third Party Processors is securely stored and maintained by them so that it can be accessed when needed for future purposes. All information provided to Third Party Processors is used by them only to carry out the service they are providing for Seahorse Aquariums.

Please note, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located in a different jurisdiction than either you or us. So, if you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider other legal obligations may be placed upon them by the laws of their jurisdiction.

Section 9: Security

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using the secure socket layer technology (SSL). Our website platform follows all PCI-DSS Level 1 requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

A Cookie is a small file that resides on your computer’s hard drive and often contains an anonymous unique identifier and is accessible only by the web site that placed it there, not any other sites. Most On-Line retailers like Seahorse Aquariums use cookies. The Nitrosell platform uses Cookies to let us know that you are a prior customer and thus you will not need to re-enter certain information every time you shop at the site. We do not use cookies to store credit card numbers, address information or any other personal information.

You may delete Cookies; however, you may lose any information that enables you to access the Web Site more quickly or enjoy a custom user experience. Our Site is not intended for, and should not be used by, children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
