Cryptocoryne spiralis ‘Red’ is an elegant and distinctive Cryptocoryne variety known for its long, narrow, twisting leaves that develop reddish to bronze tones under suitable conditions. Its flowing form adds height and movement to planted aquariums, creating a natural and slightly wild appearance.

This plant works particularly well as a background feature or as a tall midground accent, where its upright, spiralling leaves contrast beautifully with broader-leaved plants and carpeting species.

Care and Growth:

Cryptocoryne spiralis ‘Red’ prefers stable aquarium conditions and grows well under low to moderate lighting, making it suitable for low-tech setups. While CO₂ injection is not essential, supplementation can improve growth rate and colour development. A nutrient-rich substrate is recommended for healthy root growth.

Like many Cryptocoryne species, this plant may experience “crypt melt” when introduced to a new aquarium. This is normal, and new growth typically appears once the plant has settled. Propagation occurs naturally via runners from the base of the plant.
