Overview:
Aponogeton ulvaceus is a graceful and fast-growing bulb plant, admired for its long, translucent, light-green leaves with gently wavy edges. Originating from Madagascar, this species quickly becomes a centrepiece in planted aquariums once established.
Its flowing foliage adds movement and a soft, natural feel to aquascapes. When grown from a bulb, Aponogeton ulvaceus establishes quickly and can produce impressive leaf length in a relatively short time, making it ideal for larger aquariums.
Care and Growth:
This plant grows best under medium lighting and in a nutrient-rich substrate, as it is a heavy root feeder. Root tabs are strongly recommended. CO₂ injection can enhance growth speed and leaf size but is not essential.
Like other Aponogeton species, it may enter a natural dormant phase where leaves die back. This is normal— reduce fertilisation and allow the bulb to rest until new growth appears. Propagation occurs naturally via bulb division.
