Microsorum pteropus common name Java Fern originated from Southeast Asia. M. pteropus is a popular fern that is attached to rock or wood. If planted on substrate it is important not to cover the rhizomes. When newly planting, attach to rock or wood with fishing line of rubber band until the plant takes root. M. pteropus is easy to grow and does not need a lot of light. The reproductive organ called the sporangia is found under the leaf in the shape of a black spot. Propagation is possible by splitting the horizontal rhizome and replanting in a suitable area.
