Overview:
Hydrocotyle tripartita is a popular and highly decorative aquarium plant known for its small, clover-like leaves and fast, creeping growth habit. Its bright green colour and dynamic form add freshness and movement to planted aquariums.
This plant spreads horizontally across the substrate and can also be trained to climb over rocks and driftwood, making it extremely versatile for creative aquascaping. It is especially well suited to nature-style and Iwagumi layouts.
Care and Growth:
Hydrocotyle tripartita grows best under medium to high lighting and responds well to regular trimming. While CO₂ injection is not essential, supplementation encourages faster growth, smaller leaves, and a denser appearance. Regular liquid fertilisation supports healthy, vibrant foliage.
Propagation is very easy: trim creeping runners or stems and replant them where desired. Frequent pruning helps maintain a compact, low-growing form and prevents the plant from becoming too leggy.
