Overview:

Crinum natans is a striking and elegant aquarium plant known for its long, broad, ribbon-like leaves that gently wave in the current. Native to rivers and streams in West Africa, this species brings a dramatic, natural look and sense of movement to large freshwater aquariums.

Its flowing foliage makes it an excellent background focal plant, especially in river-style and nature-inspired aquascapes. Due to its size and spread, Crinum natans is best suited to spacious tanks where it can grow without crowding other plants.

Care and Growth:

This plant thrives under low to moderate lighting and prefers stable water parameters with gentle to moderate flow. CO₂ injection can enhance growth but is not essential. A nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs are recommended, as Crinum natans is a heavy root feeder.

Growth is slow to moderate, but very steady once established. The bulb should be planted partially above the substrate to prevent rot. Propagation occurs naturally through bulb offsets over time.
