Overview:
Riccia fluitans is a vibrant, bright green liverwort widely used in aquascaping for its fine texture and intense colour. Supplied in an in-vitro cup, this plant is grown in sterile laboratory conditions and is free from pests, algae, and snails.
Naturally a floating plant, Riccia fluitans can also be tied or netted to rocks or driftwood to create a lush, cushion-like carpet effect. Its vivid colour and soft texture make it a popular choice for high-impact foreground features in aquascapes.
Care and Growth:
Riccia fluitans grows best under medium to high lighting and benefits greatly from CO₂ injection, which promotes compact, dense growth. Without CO₂, it tends to grow looser and float upward. Regular trimming is essential to prevent detachment and maintain a neat appearance.
Propagation is very easy: simply divide and reattach portions as needed. When used as a floating plant, excess growth can be removed to prevent surface shading.
