Overview:
Eleocharis parvula, commonly known as Dwarf Hairgrass, is a popular carpeting plant valued for its short, fine, grass-like blades and neat, low-growing habit. Compared to standard Eleocharis acicularis, it stays shorter and forms a tighter, more refined carpet.
Its delicate texture and vibrant green colour make it ideal for creating natural-looking foreground carpets in planted aquariums, particularly in Iwagumi and nature-style layouts.
Care and Growth:
This plant thrives under medium to high lighting and spreads readily once established. While CO₂ injection is not essential, supplementation can encourage faster growth and denser carpeting. A nutrient-rich substrate supports healthy root development.
Eleocharis parvula propagates via runners, gradually covering the foreground area. Occasional trimming helps maintain a tidy, even carpet and encourages fresh growth.
