Overview:
Aponogeton longiplumulosus is a spectacular and highly decorative aquarium plant, renowned for its long, finely ruffled leaves that create a dramatic, flowing appearance. Native to Madagascar, this species is considered one of the most visually striking Aponogeton varieties available for freshwater aquariums.
Its elegant, lace-like foliage adds movement and depth to aquascapes, making it an exceptional background focal plant in larger tanks. Due to its size and leaf spread, it is best suited to spacious aquariums with ample vertical room.
Care and Growth:
This plant prefers medium lighting and a nutrient-rich substrate, as it is a heavy root feeder. While CO₂ injection is not essential, it can enhance overall growth and leaf development. Root tabs are strongly recommended to support sustained, healthy growth.
Like many Aponogeton species, Aponogeton longiplumulosus may go through a natural dormant phase where older leaves die back. This is normal—reduce fertilisation during this period and new growth will resume naturally. Propagation occurs through bulb division.
