Overview:
Monosolenium tenerum, commonly known as Pellia, is a distinctive liverwort with thick, translucent green fronds that create a soft, flowing appearance in aquariums. Supplied in an in-vitro cup, this plant is grown in sterile laboratory conditions, ensuring it is free from pests, algae, and snails.
Unlike traditional mosses, Monosolenium tenerum grows in layered, ribbon-like mats that can be used to create natural-looking foreground features or attached to rocks for a unique textured effect. It is also popular in shrimp tanks due to the shelter it provides.
Care and Growth:
This plant thrives under low to moderate lighting and is well suited to low-tech aquariums. CO₂ injection can enhance growth speed and density but is not essential. Gentle water flow helps prevent debris from collecting on the plant’s surface.
Monosolenium tenerum can be left free-growing or lightly anchored to hardscape. Propagation is simple—break off small sections and place them where growth is desired.
