Shirakura – Mineral Stones (Approx. 5–6 pcs, 200g)

Product Overview

Shirakura Mineral Stones are swellable mineral stones made from montmorillonite, designed to enrich aquarium water with essential minerals while actively supporting water quality. They are widely used in shrimp aquariums to promote health, vitality, and stable water conditions, particularly in soft water setups.

Mineral Support & Shrimp Health

The stones slowly release important minerals that support strong moulting, healthy growth, bright colouration, and overall vitality. Adequate mineral availability is especially important when using very soft water or substrates that reduce hardness, where mineral deficiencies can develop quickly.

Water Purification & Ion Exchange

Thanks to their high ion-exchange capacity, Shirakura Mineral Stones act as a natural ion exchanger, binding harmful substances such as ammonium, ammonia, and heavy metals over a long period. These substances are safely stored within the stone’s structure, reducing their risk to shrimp.

Swelling Behaviour

When first placed in the aquarium, the stones may appear to dissolve. This is a natural swelling process rather than actual dissolution. Swelling allows the stone to store pollutants within its internal layers and adsorb them to the clay silicate structure.

Professional Use

The use of mineral stones is strongly supported by Japanese shrimp breeders and is standard practice in many breeding facilities, including those of Takayuki Shirakura. Their long-term, gentle action makes them suitable for continuous use in shrimp aquariums.

Usage

Place the mineral stones directly into the aquarium and allow them to work gradually over time. No special preparation is required.
