Koran Angel (Juvenile)

The juvenile Koran Angel is a captivating species with a dramatically different appearance from its adult form. Juveniles are deep blue with striking electric white and blue semicircular bands. As they mature, these bands gradually transform into the intricate maze-like pattern of the adult Koran Angel, making this species a fascinating addition to any marine aquarium.

Scientific Name:

Pomacanthus semicirculatus

Reefsafe:

No

General Size Specifications:

Juveniles can grow up to 6 inches (15 cm) before transitioning to their adult form, eventually reaching up to 15 inches (38 cm).

Habitat:

Native to the Indo-Pacific region, the juvenile Koran Angel inhabits coral reefs and lagoons, often hiding among rocky crevices and feeding on sponges and algae.

Approx Lifespan:

In captivity, the Koran Angel can live up to 15 years or more as it transitions from juvenile to adult.

Feeding and Diet:

This omnivorous species feeds on sponges, algae, and small invertebrates. In aquariums, a varied diet of marine algae, sponge-based foods, and frozen shrimp will support healthy growth and vibrant color development.

Breeding:

Breeding in captivity is rare for the Koran Angel. It requires a large, stable environment with pristine water conditions to encourage breeding behavior.
