Overview:
Cryptocoryne affinis is a robust and highly adaptable Cryptocoryne species, known for its long, textured leaves that display rich green to bronze-brown tones depending on lighting and water conditions. Its durable nature makes it a favourite for both beginner and experienced aquarists.
With its upright growth and slightly ruffled leaves, Cryptocoryne affinis adds depth and natural movement to midground areas. It blends well with other Cryptocoryne species and works beautifully in nature-style and low-tech aquascapes.
Care and Growth:
This plant thrives under low to moderate lighting and prefers stable water parameters. CO₂ injection can improve growth rate and leaf quality but is not essential. A nutrient-rich substrate is recommended to support healthy root development.
Like many Cryptocoryne species, it may experience “crypt melt” after planting or changes in conditions. This is normal, and new growth will emerge once the plant has settled. Propagation occurs naturally via runners from the base of the plant.
