JBL SilicatEx Rapid is a specialised filter media designed to remove silicic acid (silicate) from freshwater and marine aquariums. By reducing silicate levels, it helps prevent the formation of diatoms, which can create brown deposits on gravel, decorations and plants.

The media binds silicate effectively and supports improved water clarity. A silicate level above 0.4 mg/l can encourage diatom growth, and JBL SilicatEx Rapid helps control this issue efficiently.
