Scientific Name:

Doryrhamphus excisus

Reefsafe:

Yes

General Size Specifications:

This species typically grows up to 10 inches (25 cm) in length.

Habitat:

Native to the shallow waters of the Indo-Pacific region, the Bluestripe Pipefish is commonly found in seagrass beds, coral reefs, and lagoons. They often inhabit areas with plenty of vegetation, where they use their excellent camouflage to blend in and avoid predators.

Approx Lifespan:

In captivity, the Bluestripe Pipefish can live up to 5 years or more with proper care.

Feeding and Diet:

This species primarily feeds on small crustaceans, zooplankton, and tiny invertebrates. In aquariums, they benefit from a diet that includes high-quality live or frozen foods, such as brine shrimp and mysis shrimp.
