Kamohara Blenny

The Kamohara Blenny is a small and colorful species known for its active and curious nature. With a body that features a combination of green, brown, and yellow hues, this blenny is an eye-catching addition to any reef aquarium. Kamohara Blennies are commonly found in rock crevices and sandy substrates, where they spend much of their time foraging for small invertebrates and algae.

Scientific Name:

Meiacanthus kamoharai

Reefsafe:

Yes

General Size Specifications:

This species typically grows up to 3 inches (7.6 cm) in length.

Habitat:

Native to the Indo-Pacific region, the Kamohara Blenny is typically found in rocky reef environments, lagoons, and sandy areas where it can find shelter in crevices and coral heads. They thrive in environments with plenty of hiding spots and good water flow.

Approx Lifespan:

In captivity, Kamohara Blennies can live for 3-5 years with proper care.

Feeding and Diet:

This herbivorous species feeds on algae, small invertebrates, and detritus found in the substrate. In aquariums, they benefit from a varied diet that includes high-quality algae-based foods, pellets, and occasional frozen foods to ensure optimal health and coloration.

Breeding:

Breeding Kamohara Blennies in captivity is not well-documented. In the wild, they typically breed in sheltered areas such as rock crevices. A stable environment with plenty of hiding spots can encourage natural behaviors and potentially breeding in a well-established tank.
