With the JBL Pond Thermometer, monitoring the temperature of the garden pond is simple, handy and precise. The floating JBL Pond Thermometer is green in colour to blend in with the surroundings. It can be easily pulled to the bank of the pond using the 5 meter long black nylon cord. The clear temperature scale shows water temperatures ranging from a theoretical minus 10° to plus 50 °C. Why should the water temperature be monitored? The level of oxygen in the water depends on the temperature. The higher the temperature of the water, the less oxygen can be absorbed. This is particularly a problem if many fish are kept or algae remedies are used. Algae remedies destroy the algae, which are then broken down by bacteria. Bacterial decomposition may use up such large amounts of oxygen that massive oxygen problems can occur in the pond, with fish dying as a result. Pond owners should therefore regularly monitor the oxygen content and the water temperature.
