The Birdmouth Wrasse – Female is a slender, elegant fish known for its elongated snout and subtle coloration. Typically less vibrant than the male, the female has soft hues of beige, tan, or greenish tones that help it blend into reef environments. Active and curious, this wrasse brings both beauty and personality to larger marine aquariums.

Females generally grow up to 6–7 inches (15–18 cm) in length.
Habitat:
Native to coral reefs throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Prefers lagoons and outer reef slopes with plenty of rockwork for hiding and foraging.
Approximate Lifespan:
Typically lives up to 8–10 years in captivity with proper care.
Feeding and Diet:
Carnivorous; feeds on small crustaceans, molluscs, and worms in the wild. In the aquarium, offer a varied diet of frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-protein marine pellets.
Breeding:
Like many wrasses, this species is protogynous—females can transform into males in the absence of a dominant male. Captive breeding is not well documented.
