Overview:
Pond Lilies, also known as Water Lilies, are among the most iconic aquatic plants, producing beautiful floating flowers in a range of colours above attractive rounded lily pads. They provide stunning seasonal displays while helping to shade the pond, reduce algae growth, and create a natural habitat for fish and wildlife.

Lighting Requirements:
Thrives in full sun. For the best flowering display, provide at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day.

Watering / Planting Depth:
Plant in aquatic planting baskets using aquatic compost. Most varieties perform best at a water depth of 30–90cm, depending on the variety and maturity of the plant.

Placement Tips:

• Ideal for medium to large ponds
• Provides shade and shelter for fish and other aquatic life
• Helps reduce algae growth by limiting sunlight reaching the water
• Available in a variety of flower colours to suit any pond design

Approximate Size:
Spread and flower size vary by variety, with most lilies covering approximately 60–150cm across the water surface.

Important Note:

• Fully hardy varieties are suitable for outdoor ponds in Ireland
• Remove dead leaves and spent flowers throughout the growing season
• Most varieties become dormant during winter before returning in spring
• Avoid allowing lilies to cover more than 60% of the pond surface to maintain healthy oxygen levels
