Lilaeopsis brasiliensis common name Micro Sword, from the family Apiaceae originates from South America and can grow to height of 4 cm - 7 cm. In its native habitat it is found along river banks, shallow water ways, and wet soils. L. brasiliensis is a slow growing foreground grass plant that can grow quite compact, but a lawn affect is only achieved under levels of high light intensities. L. Brasiliensis should be planted in small clumps several centimetres apart in order to help the plants to grow more swiftly. A nutrient rich substrate also promotes growth. L. Brasiliensis is a versatile plant that can be used in garden ponds and can also tolerate low salt concentrations in brackish aquariums. Propagation is possible by splitting the runners and replanting in suitable substrate.
