Vallisneria nana from the family Hydrocharitaceae originates from Australia and can grow to a height 30 cm - 80 cm. V. nana has beautiful dark green, rosulate, narrow leaves. It is a solitary plant that is very versatile and is suited for both mid-ground and also background in smaller aquariums. V. nana grows best in medium-hard, slightly alkaline water. A distinctive feature of V. nana is that the leaves are much narrower than with other species of Vallisneria. Offshoots are easily formed so V. nana will soon cultivate into an attractive compact vegetation in good conditions.
