How to introduce new fish to your tank.
Odd balls and unique livestock.
Sometimes mistaken for, and sold as, the chalk goby (V.sexguttata) newly imported specimens of this species of so-called "sand shifting" or "sand-sifting" goby are often quite pale in appearance.
They can be distinguished from their close relatives as they have think pink horizontal lines running from the mouth to the base of the tail.
As will all members of this goby genus it is important to make sure that a fish is getting enough to eat - offer regular feedings with mysis and brine shrimp.
They like to tunnel and placing short lengths of saltwater safe pipe can give them a decent starting point. Try to obtain a pair if possible observation should reveal two compatible individuals.
