Gammarus (Gammarus oceanicus)
Although its scientific name suggests otherwise, this crustacean which we harvested on the west coast of France is able to survive under the most extreme conditions, as long as the conditions do not change abruptly. It is even sustainable in pure fresh water, but does not multiply in these waters. As live food, it is only recommended if enough fish are available to immediately consume the Gammarus. Otherwise soft corals in reef or plants in fresh water aquariums could be damaged by the aggressive eating habits of this species.
