Juwel Jumbo Phorax Media

Phorax Phosphate Remover Juwel Phorax is a highly effective filter medium used to break down phosphates in your aquarium. This effectively reduces the growth of algae and can contribute to improved plant and coral growth.
Phosphate regularly gets into aquariums through fish food and are naturally very unlikely to be broken down. However, plants need only tiny quantities of phosphate for their natural growth (fresh water: 0.05 mg/l, saltwater 0.01 mg/l). Too much phosphate can, in some cases, trigger prolific algae growth.
Phorax consists of an aluminium mineral which binds dissolved phosphate by creating a water-insoluble aluminium phosphate and removing it from the water. This makes Juwel Phorax highly effective, binding up to 12 mg of phosphate per gram of Phorax.
Suitable for both freshwater and marine aquariums. This media should be changed out every 2 - 4 weeks until the desired phosphate level is achieved. This can be found by noticing lower algae growth in the aquarium or by using a phosphate test kit.

There are 3 sizes of filter media to suit the different filters.

Compact, Standard & Jumbo.

Juwel Jumbo Filter Media measures 15 X 15 cm and fits the Bioflow 8 filter systems.
Aquariums that have the Bioflow 8 filter systems are, Rio 400, Trigon 350 & the Vision 450.

Juwel Standard Filter Media measures 12.5 X 12.5 cm and fits the Bioflow 6 filter systems.
Aquariums that have the Bioflow 6 filter systems are, Rio 300 & the Vision 260.

Juwel Compact Filter Media measures 9.5 X 9.5 cm and fits the Bioflow 3 filter systems.
Aquariums that have the Bioflow 3 filter systems are, Rio 240, Rio 180, Rio 125, Vision 180, Trigon 190, lido 120 & the Lido 200.

For models Rekord 600, 700 and 800 using the Bioflow Super Filter system, the compact size media is used. Exception is the poly pad and carbon that use a super compact model which are slightly smaller than the standard compact media.

For the New Vio 40 model aquariums with the Bioflow Mini Filter system, These take a single compact coarse sponge.
