Eleocharis parvula is a cosmopolitan species from the family Cyperaceae that can grow to a height of 3cm -10cm. In its native habitat it is found in marshes, bogs and moist areas. E. parvula is considered to be one of the best carpet-forming foreground plants. It has short leaves and is fast growing. Although it is not essential, E. parvula thrives under moderate to high light and CO2 addition. A nutritious substrate also promotes growth. If leaves become too long, they can be trimmed with a scissors to about 2cm height. This will encourage new growth.
