Anubias barteri , is also known as Anubius or Anubias barteri, is a small, attractive plant which thrives in all conditions. It has arrow shaped leaves which are a vibrant green in colour. It will reach 5-10 cm height. The rhizomes of the plant have been known to grow as long as 10-15 cm or more. It is a slow growing plant and the leaves survive for several years. This allows slow-growing algae the chance to become established. A pH of 6.5 to 7.5 is ideal, and is best maintained with an alkalinity of 3 to 7 dKH. A high quality substrate fertilizer is necessary, and it is recommended to use CO2 fertilization. It is not eaten by herbivorous fish. Planting on stone or tree root will achieve the best result. In order to keep these plants small, simply trim back the leaves near the rhizome with a sharp pair of scissors.
